Actions: Carminative, antispasmodic, digestive, stomachic, expectorant, galactogenic (stimulates lactation), estrogenic.

Indications: Traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve digestive disorders including bloating and flatulence (carminative), to help relieve menstrual pain (antispasmodic), to stimulate lactation (galactogen) and as an expectorant to help relieve cough due to colds.

• Antispasmodic (Releases muscle tension in the digestive muscles) / Reduces gas, colic,

   bloating  and intestinal spasms.

• Stomachic / Digestive (Facilitates digestion, reduces stomach aches and dyspeptic disorders).
• Reduces nausea during indigestion.
• Antispasmodic / Relieves menstrual cramps (during endometriosis).
• Estrogenic / Emmenagogue / Can balance hormonal imbalances, can promote ovulation.  (Amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea or during menopause).

• Stimulates lactation / Galactogenic.
• Reduces cough, relieves inflammation of the respiratory tract.
• Expectorant / Promotes the elimination of bronchial mucus.

Ingredient: Green anise (Pimpinella anisum) organic whole seeds.

Dosage: Infuse a level teaspoon of seeds in a cup of boiling water, cover, infuse for 10 minutes and strain. Drink hot after meals.

• Adults: Drink 1 cup (250ml) of 1 to 3 cups per day, after meals.
• Children 5 to 9 years old: Drink 1/3 to 2/3 cup (150ml-300ml) 1 to 3 times/day. (make sure the child is not allergic by giving a very small amount the first time).
• Children 10 to 17 years old: Drink ¾ cup (180ml) 1 to 3 times a day.

Duration of use: Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 2 weeks.

Optional: Can be added to other digestive plants such as mint, lemon balm, artichoke… Lightly sweeten with honey or maple syrup (to taste).

Contraindications: Do not use this plant if you are pregnant. Do not use in case of allergy to anethole or to plants belonging to the Apiaceae family (Carrots, fennel, parsley…).

Precautions: Consult a healthcare practitioner; (herbalist, naturopath, pharmacist, nurse or doctor) before using this plant if you are taking medication or if your symptoms persist or worsen. Discontinue use if hypersensitivity/allergy occurs. Avoid consuming if you have a history of hormone-dependent cancer (estrogenic properties). For breastfeeding women, drink the dosage for children, only from the 6th week of lactation.
