Clove is a pink/redish floral bud that turns dark brown when dried. This tree, the clove tree, (Syzygium aromaticum), is part of the Myrtaceae family, along with the allspice, tea tree, guava and eucalyptus.
Originally from the Moluccan Islands in Indonesia, it is now cultivated in several tropical regions of Asia, Africa, Central and South America.
Ingredient: Organic cloves (Syzygium aromaticum).
Directions: Infuse 2 to 4 cloves in a cup of boiling water, cover, steep for 5 minutes and filter. *May be combined with other plants with anti-infectious effects (tourista, cold); such as thyme, echinacea, cinnamon or oregano or combine with digestive/carminative plants; such as mint and fennel. Optional; sweeten lightly with honey or maple syrup.
For toothache; if you ever have a toothache and you can't get a quick appointment with your dentist, place a clove in the sore spot. Let it work there. After a while, it may become a little too strong, so spit it out and apply a new clove a little later.
Duration of use; Cloves are generally non-toxic (if taken punctually). However, long-term use, especially if used alone, and especially if the dose is high, may cause a list of serious side effects. The whole cloves taken orally does not have the same risks as taking its essential oil, but it is still very rich in powerful aromatic substances (Eugenol), do not abuse it, use it sensibly.
In external use / Medicinal oil of cloves; A medicinal oil is made from the maceration of dried plants in vegetable oil, often olive oil. It is enough to cover the cloves previously coarsely crushed with a mortar or a coffee grinder and to cover well with vegetable oil (one part of cloves for 3-4 parts of oil). This mixture can be heated at a low temperature for a few hours or heated by the sun for several days. After the mixture of cloves and oil has macerated, press and filter it. This maceration allows the oil to extract the active ingredients (molecules with therapeutic action) from the plants. To obtain an ointment, beeswax is added to the hot oil, empty into jars, let cool. Its uses are topical (on the skin) only. Clove has anti-inflammatory properties; this medicinal oil can be used in massage for muscle or joint pain. It is also a nervous and cerebral stimulant, used in massage during periods of fatigue or mental exhaustion.
Contraindications: Do not use if you are breastfeeding or pregnant.
Precautions: Consult a health care professional (herbalist, naturopath, pharmacist, nurse or doctor) before using this plant if you are taking anticoagulant drugs, if you suffer from hypertension, if your symptoms persist or worsen. In external use, it can cause reactions on the skin, test it first on a small area of your skin to see if you react.
